The first Fleur de Lys yacht was built by my father's company (Dagless Ltd) in 1959 and the last was launched during the summer of 1979. Over the years I have seen many adverts and since the advent of the internet many sightings. Since 2000 I have set out to locate and archive as much information about the boats as possible; help has been given by many people. This is my first attempt at trying to reach a broader public who may have past or present news, photos or just plain gossip, with a view to creating a website sometime in the future.
One of my main aims is to update and correct information already available on the boats, such as name-changes, build-dates, specifications, etc.
I currently have substantial data on many of the boats and would be happy to discuss and share what I have with interested parties.

Good Afternoon,
ReplyDeleteI and 2 partners bought "Fleur de Lys" built in 1979 from the estate of Roger Watson who I believe bought her from your Father 20 or so years ago. She had been sadly neglected for quite a few years the biggest problems being a leaking deck shower which had rotted through the deck and eaten away several deck support timbers in the aft cabin. At some time oversized deck plugs had been used to cover the roves causing many planks to split and a router used on the deck seams.
Two years on she is now a going concern again and I have made a couple of trips to Majorca from her base in Barcelona - an absolute pleasure with the Vosper maxi-fin stabalisers.
I would be happy to let you have photos, recent survey report etc. if you are interested.
My eMail address is stevewoodvi@hotmail.com
My father and uncle had a yacht built by Dagless Ltd called Centaura around 1963. I believe it was the largest yacht they had built to that date and it is still going strong in the South of France.
ReplyDeleteI remember it fondly as I was around 10 years old and spent a few holidays sailing in the Med.

Hi there. I have no idea whether I am doing this correctly and whether I should register first but here goes anyway! I own a 66ft Fleur de Lys now called Galmara but previously called Duncanna II I think? Does anyone have any details on her from build until around 2004? I am coming to the end of a two year total refit with new engines, decks totally repayed, all accommodation refurbished and an extended upper deck. I have lots of photographs of the progress and would love to chat with anyone who has information about her. I would also like to know if anyone has the operating instructions for the Vosper Maxi stabilisers which I cannot seem to find on the net! I will end this now but I have an email address as Galmara@btinternet.com if anyone wants/cares to write to me direct. Alternative email is my business one - Khayyam@talk21.com Hope to hear from someone. Mike Barlow
ReplyDeleteWell blow me down!
DeleteGalmara belonged to my grandfather Eric Farmer for 11 years, who was the second owner having bought her off Cecil Galliford on 15/05/73. She was first launched on 09/06/71. I grew up with her from age 8 to 19 when granddad sold her on 18/05/84 to Mr Duncan in Scotland who re-named her Duncanna! I'll email you with more info. Charlie
HI Charlie
Deletemy father was Cecil Galliford and I remember Galmara well. We kept her in the Hamble and had many adventures on her.
Best wishes,
Sharon

DeleteHi there.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I bought the M/S Patricia, a 53 feet Fleur de Lys. She was located i Oslo, Norway and is now in Kristiansand, Norway were I live. Patricia was built på Dagless ltd in 1964. In 1988 she was brought to Arendal, Norway and began a career as a charter vessel. Before 1988 we believe she had been in Holland, but her history from 1964 til 1988 is quite blurry to us. However, the last eight years she has been sailing as a leisure yatch and will continue as such for many years to come.
We are very much interested in every bit of information we can gather, so if you have anything you can share it would be most welcome.
Please contact me on torore@hotmail.com.
Best regard

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI own a very early (boat No3, “Bejoda”, built 1960) 50’ Continental.
I’m 9months onto a 3 year restoration/ refit that will include converting her to a ketch rigged motorsailer.
She is currently named “Louise du Barry” and has suffered many years of neglect, poor maintenance and partial demolition of a lot of her original fit out at the hands of previous owners.
Yes, it’s a lot of work...but I am lucky in so much as I can do the work myself. She is to become my long range, cruising liveaboard yacht for when I retire.
We are based in Morecambe bay in Lancashire.
I can be contacted on mike.cleasby@hotmail.com
Best regards
Mike
Hi..all
ReplyDeleteJust purchase a 52ft ..... but have limited information on the boat. Currently has the name of Solitaire III, but looking through some old invoices they just have the name Solitaire, was the III just added in the past 20 years. When boats left Wisbeck did they have a names or just hull references ?. Its hull reference is 336446.... is there a list ?. Would be nice to know its original name.
Hi Andrew,
DeleteI was close to purchasing the Solitaire iii in 2017, but redundancy notices at work meant I lost out. Where is she now? Is all works completed?
It was taken out the water, a gentleman bought it and had the stern redone and engines looked at.....but due to family issues sold it to me. Since then we found that fly deck is totally rotten, and now has been removed, most of the sides and deck are also rotten, and internal plumbing and electrics are shot at .... currently doing a full restoration (name re-named back to just "Solitaire" )
DeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteHaving worked for Dagless Ltd in the Drawing Office from 1962 to 1966 I am now trying to find anyone
who was there then, or has a relative who worked in the yard about that time.
It would be great to share memories of the yachts being built.
Regards
Robert L.
Hello all,
ReplyDeleteI have been the owner for 5 years of Deramore, in this case the Ambassador model, 77 feet long.
We have done a very important refit work over the years and in this context, we are looking for all informations regarding plans and technical drawings about the Ambassador model.
We have valuable data (MCA certification, heel test) that could help other owners of the same model.
It would be great to share all this information.
Regards,
Greg https://www.deramoremy.com/

DeleteHello Andrew, oh yes, that would be fantastic ! Here is my email : grdorget@gmail.com. Thanks a lot. Greg.
